No Hoopla for 2011

Just a heads up so our loyal crafters and vendors can plan and schedule: due to circumstances beyond our control we will not be hosting the Hoopla in the fall of 2011. There are many other events in the area during that time and we encourage our supporters to continue to support our local schools and community by attending/participating in these events. Thank you for your support - it has been a pleasure organizing this event.

Hoopla a big success

We counted 450 visitors and 65 vendors this year at the hoopla. A great success for us. Last year we only had 250 visitors. Thanks to everyone for all your support and patronage. See you again same time next year! Many of our vendors asked me about Chicks with Checkbooks that the elementary school usually puts on...they are not doing it this year. Also, we would love to hear your feedback about a show in the spring - sometime before Easter.

Today was the last day to register for the Hoopla! We have some great vendors and there is going to be some awesome shopping next Saturday!! I sent out an email to those whose registrations I have received. If you did not get an email but sent your registration - please let us know!

I love a variety of crafts so I offer a wide range of items including cloth and beaded key fobs, beaded knitting stitch markers, cloth coasters, table runners, tote bags, mini wallets/gift card holders, but my specialty is rag quilts (the inspiration behind my name "Ragamuffin"). I designed my own Ragamuffin Car Seat Rag Quilt that features a "hole" to attach the quild by the strapf of the car seat or stroller so those little legs can't kick it to the ground.

The 3rd Annual Hoopla is on its way! Please find the Application, Invitation with information, and an Ad to print and distribute at YOUR local haunts. If everyone distributes a stack at a church or hangs a few in local stores - every vendor will benefit and we will all make this a successful event.

This year ADMISSION is FREE!!!! You spoke and we listened! There will still be concessions and raffles. The time is from 9-2 on NOVEMBER 20TH. This year Clemson is away at Wake Forest - so the game should not interfere!! YAY!

Once again, I will maintain a list of artists/crafters attending on this blog. If you would like to send a few pictures (small enough) to my email along with a description of your products/style/whatever you want people to know...I will add a link to your name to allow prospective customers to veiw what will be available at the show. This can include an additional link to your online store, as well. I encourage any online store to put a link to this blog to advertise the craft show to your customers.

Fence at Hurricane Park

The HPP teamed up with TriCounty and the Service Learning Program at Wren High School to fence in the last side of the soccer field. It looks great.

We are also getting teamed up with Serteen at the high school to liven up and plant the planters at the field house.

Current and upcoming projects

Currently we are uniting the Wren High School Service Learning Program with Tri County Soccer to try to get the remainder of the soccer field fenced in to protect the irrigation system that was installed. We hope to have the installation completed by the end of Spring Break.

We will be replanting the planters at the football field soon, as well.

Only 3 more days until the 2nd Annual Hurricane Hoopla Arts and Crafts Fair. We have filled the commons and the gym with some of the most unique and handcrafted gift items. With over 50 vendors (58 to be exact) we are going to have some great shopping on Saturday!

We have secured advertising on Whistle 100 - both regular radio and online. The online ads will begin Tuesday and run through Saturday. The radio spots will begin Thursday and run through Saturday. We are very excited about this added advertising!! Tune in to Whistle 100!!!

Wow - what an amazing list of items we are going to have to raffle off on the day of the event! We are getting more applications and new crafters everyday! The commons is full and we are moving into the cafeteria! Keep those applications coming. We are working on launching our ad campaign - be on the look out. And don't forget to print off the advertisement flyer on the left side of the screen to place at churches, schools, businesses - who ever will take them! :)

Banner at the Football Field

The 10' x 4' banner will be going up on Friday for the first home football game. It will stay there to advertise the fair until the end of the season!!! It looks great. I can't wait to get it hung up! I will take a picture and post it.

Well, we are underway...the info letter and crafter application are posted. I am still working on the flyer that you will be able to print out and distribute at YOUR local haunts to get the word out. If everyone distributes a stack at a church or hangs a few in local stores - every vendor will benefit and we will all make this a successful event.

The fees are different from last year, just a bit. There are 2 reasons for this. Number one - to simply offer it cheaper and Number two - we anticipate a MUCH larger group of crafters this year and were concerned we would not have access to enough tables. We also wanted to give the benefit of an early registration (we did not offer that last year). Finally, we extended the hours of operation to 5pm (instead of 2).

Remember - we work hard not to duplicate items, so if you know you want to participate - do not hesitate sending in your app. You are not guaranteed a spot until we recieve and aprove of your application. So, take advantage of the early registration.

Kickball GAME at Finale Rally May 28

The Seniors at Wren High School will play against the faculty and administration at Thursday's Finale Rally. Game is at 7....student council is donating all proceeds from finale rally to The Hurricane Pride Project. THANK YOU WREN HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT COUNCIL!!

Everyone come out and watch the game...it should be a good time..

High School Fieldhouse 2008

Summer of 2008 was our first effort. We completed the following: powerwashed the concrete in front of the concessions; powerwashed the bathrooms and exterior walls of all buildings; painted the exterior of all buildings; painted decorative stripes on 2 of the 3 buildings; painted hurricane blown tree; built and installed 10 planters; painted both gate boxes; trimmed all hedges and fence lines; cleared parking lot and all pavement of weeds; purchased 3 garden hoses for fielhouse use; painted the inner office of the Athletic Director with mural of hurricane; trash pick up on many occasions; established recycle bins for plastic bottles; added more trash cans to the area.Still want to accomplish the following: approximately 5 more planters; complete the decorative stripes on the remaining building, including the new gate box; maintain the hedges and fence line; remove bulky trash items from the feildhouse area.
